VI Conference on Research on the History of Photography

The VI Conference will be dedicated to the theme “Aragon and its photographic heritage, 1839-1945” and will be held on October 29, 30 and 31, 2025 at the headquarters of the Institución Fernando el Católico (IFC), in Zaragoza.

The call for papers is still open, although the deadline is June 15.

During the I Conference on the History of Photography in Extremadura, held at the end of March this year, it was announced that preparations were already being finalized for the VI Conference on Research in the History of Photography, which will take place in Zaragoza on October 29, 30 and 31, 2025.

These biennial conferences were created between 2014 and 2015 by ARAID researcher José Antonio Hernández Latas, within the Institución Fernando el Católico (IFC) in Zaragoza. Since its first edition in 2015, they have established themselves as a reference forum for the study and dissemination of photographic heritage, both nationally and internationally. Throughout its five previous editions, they have brought together photographic historians, collectors, curators, documentalists and visual heritage professionals, generating a space for scientific and cultural exchange of great value.

This year’s edition will be monographically dedicated to “Aragon and its photographic heritage (1839-1945)”, with the aim of highlighting research and synergies built around historical photography linked to this community.

The provisional program and the call for papers have been available since April 7 on the official website of the event: http://fotoaragon.cesar.unizar.es. The deadline for submitting proposals is June 15, so we encourage all those interested to participate with unpublished and rigorous works that contribute to the knowledge of Aragon’s photographic legacy.

This conference is not only an opportunity to share research, but also to strengthen collaborative networks.
