2nd Meeting “Collecting Old Cameras”
The FBS Foundation will also participate in this 2nd Meeting “Collecting Old Cameras”, organized and promoted by Borja Jordán de Urríes Vega, which will take place at the Madrid History Museum, (Calle de Fuencarral, 78, Madrid) on the 14th, 15th and June 16, 2024.
A romantic portrait, Carte de visite
Photographic portraits were a social phenomenon in the second half of the 19th century. This new carte de visita format brought with it a huge demand, and this, together with the competition between the studios that were setting up shop attracted by this unusual business opportunity of the 1960s, led to a gradual lowering of prices, which that turned portraiture into an art form accessible to a greater number of social classes. The practice of portraiture became common in the daily lives of families.
Trip to Paris
Carmen Pérez González, director of the FBS Foundation, attended the Chopin and Wissmer immersion program in Paris, directed by Mark Blezinger on the occasion of the launch of the Institut des Transformations Numériques
The first spanish railroad. From Havana to Güines
The exhibition EL PRIMER CAMINO DE HIERRO ESPAÑOL. DE LA HABANA A GÜINES opened last December 5th. It will be at the Palacio de Fernán Núñez until Thursday 14th December, and from the following Saturday 16th it can be visited at the MUSEO DEL FERROCARRIL, Madrid.
Jorge Marçal da Silva – La dimensión inmersiva
Jorge Marçal da Silva (1878-1929), surgeon and amateur photographer, took his first photograph on 12 August 1906 and this exhibition highlights his photographic output in the area of stereoscopy.
O Impulso Fotográfico
The exhibition “The Photographic Impulse: (Dis)ordering the colonial archive” proposes a decolonial reading of the images and scientific objects from the geodesic and anthropologic expeditions carried out in the territories colonised by Portugal between the end of the 19th century and the liberation of these territories, which took place with the democratic revolution of 25 April 1974
